On May 12, 2007 Hugh Dellar, one of the leading authors of Thomson Heinle and the author of very famous series Innovations will come to Turkey to give a talk at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul on "Five Golden Rules" In his talk he will deal with the Lexical Approach , which has been with us for over a decade now, but the ideas that inform it have been slow to trickle down into our classrooms. To counter this, he would like to suggest Five Golden Rules which he believes lead to better - and more lexical - teaching:

In her presentation we will look at the importance of the CEF and LP in English language teaching today and the objectives behind them. She will look at the types of tasks which can be used to achieve these objectives and emphasise the necessity to challenge students with interesting tasks and materials to foster their language development.

On March 31, 2007 Annie Hughes on behalf of Thomson Heinle will come to Turkey to give a talk on " The Language Learning Journey for our Young Learners - should they break the silence?" at Beykent Koleji Conference.
In this talk she will first consider how young learners learn, how they learn language and how they learn a new or foreign language. She will consider the language journey they are embarked upon and think about the language teaching environment that will support them on this journey and look at different stages of their journey and activities that fit into these. Finally, she will consider if young learners should break the silence in the EFL classroom.
